Tutoring Programs Used at The Learning Resource
Center
Dyslexia Training Program
The Dyslexia Training Program introduces reading and writing skills to students identified as dyslexic or at risk
for dyslexia. The program emphasizes intense phonetic analysis of written language and is presented in a
structured, multisensory sequence of alphabet, reading, spelling, cursive handwriting, and listening.
Fast ForWord
Fast ForWord, a computer-based training program, rapidly develops the oral language
skills that are necessary for reading. Based on over 25 years of brain research,
Fast ForWord's patented technology adapts to each student's progress, and
continually cross-trains critical skills to improve thinking listening and reading.
On average, students have achieved gains of one to two years in language skills
with Fast ForWord.
Wilson Language Training
The majority of illiterate people
are subject to a core deficit at the most basic level of language skill: that of
phonological coding. They have
never acquired what so many of us take for granted -- an internalized ability to
analyze the structure of words
in English and apply their understanding of that structure when reading and
spelling.
Wilson Language Training addresses that deficit and helps people of all ages
become fluent, accurate readers.
